Last Chance to Order an IronWolf with the Tier 3 Engine!

Posted on in News

Time is running out to get an IronWolf with a Tier 3 engine package. After December 31, 2017, IronWolf will no longer be able to install a Tier 3 engine package. Tier 4 standards require that emissions of Particulate Matter (PM) and Nitrogen Oxide (NOx), the prime targets of the Tier regulations, be further reduced by about 90%.

As you can imagine, these new components being built into the engine, along with a bigger cooling package, requires a larger engine compartment. Along with the new Tier 4 components and technologies come some new maintenance practices. The open crank case ventilation filter will need to be replaced every 2,000 hours, and the diesel particulate filter will need to be cleaned every 5,000 hours. Belts, hoses, radiators and alternators may also require more frequent inspection due to higher temperatures and operating pressures. In addition, the EPA requires that Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) be used in Tier 4 machines as well as a new engine oil, CJ-4, which has been formulated to reduce ash deposit.

Regardless of which engine manufacturer we choose to use, you can expect higher purchase costs (8% +/-) for an IronWolf with a Tier 4 engine package. If you want to avoid the additional cost of purchasing an IronWolf with a Tier 4 engine package, place your order NOW.
